The profession of law is quite honorable. The lawyers are expected to be honest and any deviation from his duties can lead to serious consequences for the lawyer. A lawyer is obliged in three ways. First of all he/she should be faithful to the client till the last moment. An obligation to the profession is also demanded of a lawyer. Finally a lawyer is under obligation to the court and the entire process in the court. He/she needs to remember a few rules such as:
- A lawyer must deal honestly.
- He should not allow any unqualified person to conduct his business.
- A lawyer should never charge low to avoid tax. However in case of fighting for a poor client he can charge less or no fee at all.
- He should not fix his charge depending upon the success or failure of a case.
- He should fight entirely for his client’s interest even if it is a criminal case. But in order to defend his client he should not place the guilt on any other person.
- When a lawyer sees that a chance of winning a case is rare he should clarify the situation to his client.
- He should never disclose the personal details of his client with anyone not related to the case.
- He should not attack the reputation of his opponent.
